I grew up living next to the rugged coastline of St Ives. Creating art has always been a way to express myself. Observing and immersing myself in this wild and raw environment nurtures my creativity. I try to capture the fleeting colours of light and the energy of the ocean; communicating my experience. My process involves a combination of sketching, plein air painting, memory and imagination. I like to use brushes, building texture with palette knives and any other tool to conceal/reveal areas, producing emotional, spontaneous and dramatic paintings. It invites the viewer to share my experience and provide a sense of place. I regularly exhibit in Cornwall and was shortlisted for The Evening Standard Art Prize 2018.
